Updates/additions: June 16, 2004: I know, bad man no update software. Well, a new life is coming for the Kana Flash Cards... I will be creating a Flash version over the next couple of months (as I learn Flash). Doing all the things I wanted with just css/javascript didn't fit with my schedule over the last couple of years. Rest assured.. I've not forgotten all the requests and good thoughts. Keep them coming.
January 27, 2003: OK, I didn't get to making the new version over break... so I've still got it on my plate. I did however make some layout changes today. I notice for some odd reason there are visual differences between the browsers. Didn't notice before and hadn't been told of them...hm.
October 3, 2002: Yep, been some time without official updates, and only a teaser at that.
Based on requests and my wnating to make this whole thing more useable in more ways, I'm working on a newer version of the original Kana Flash Cards, as well as adding a reverse version, where you will see the romanization and have to pick the correct kana. Below is a preview image of how it will mostly look:
What will be different than how this looks is that the kana will likely be placed randomly on the chart, which will be the best way to avoid location memorization. Can't really do that with the other version, since needing to be able to selectively choose which sets, I think, takes more precedence. The original version will also have it's look updated to be more like this... and instead of using images, I'll use kana. The old version will stay alive though, since not everyone will be able to update their systems for appropriate Japanese computing to see the proper fonts. The new variation, however, will only be done that way.
Feb 7, 2002: changed "Start/Next" to "Start/Skip". does the same thing, but makes more sense now, I think.
Mozilla seems to show things a little off kilter... I'll be doing a CSS version soon, so hopefully that'll iron out inconsistancies.
September 17, 2001: Finished adding some new functions:
You can now turn on/off columns to practice with, in addition to hiragana/katakana selection
You can reset everything to start over without reloading
° and " kana versions have been added too.
Comments on requests:
Having begun tackling the primary request... to have the romanization flash cards... I think a next step might be to include an audio option. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, or which direction I'll take, but it should be useful. Unfortunately... those who want it NOW have the misfortune of me being super busy. Sorry. :)
Other requests for options are welcomed
